David Fortey

I first started singing at the age of 14 after joining my school choir and finding out that I had a voice! Also a keen guitarist, I combined my love of singing and music by joining a band in my hometown, and by the age of 17 was regularly performing a diverse range of music from rock classics in the local social club, to music theatre in the local amateur dramatic society.

At the age of 18, I auditioned and gained a place at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff where I continued to study Voice, Guitar, and was first exposed to Male Choir singing after being invited to join the newly formed Only Men Aloud. And on top of all that still found the time to join the college rock band!

After 5 years of study, I graduated from college and started my professional career with Glyndebourne Opera. I later moved on to perform with Garsington Opera as well as being a member of the award winning Cardiff choir, Serendipity.

On top of all that, I was still a regular member of Only Men Aloud and when we were crowned Britain's favorite choir in 2008 felt very honored to be part of a very special group. Some may say a ‘Band of Brothers'!
