THE unearthing of the next generation of male singers in the heart of South Wales kicked off last week.

Britain's official favourite choir Only Men Aloud took to Merthyr Tydfil Rugby Club for the day on April 26, for the launch of their new project, Only Boys Aloud.

The ambitious plan, which is part of The Valleys Heart and Soul campaign, will see 200 or more boys aged 14 to 19 form a choir to perform at the televised opening ceremony of the National Eisteddfod in Ebbw Vale.
